Halfway There!

This week we’ve hit 20 weeks in the pregnancy so I thought it would be fitting to do an update on how things are progressing! You won’t find me doing weekly pregnancy updates on any of my pregnancies. Frankly I find that boring and I’m pretty sure so does 99% of the general population. No one cares about the weekly play by play of pregnancy (too harsh?). I figured it’d be good to do an update since we’re at the halfway point and have some fun with it!

I really don’t tend to have rough pregnancies. I know women will roll their eyes at this, but I tend to feel quite…normal when I’m pregnant. Of course I was tired in the beginning and definitely felt some side effects from being anemic (fatigue, headaches etc); however, overall I’ve had a pretty good experience this time around just like the first.

How far along: 20 weeks 2 days; baby weighs approximately 10 ounces (is this the part where I have to compare her to a fruit? I think it’s a banana or grapefruit or something)

Sex/Potential Names: Female – I was pretty sure this baby was going to be another boy so I was quite surprised to find out it was a girl! I have a few names on my list I like. I’m leaning towards a name that begins with an “A” or “E”. We already know the middle name will be Ansley (a family name from my husband’s side)

Symptoms: I never had any nausea; however, I was very tired & got frequent headaches. There were a couple of times I had to leave my workout early due to feeling fatigued. I chalked it up to the tired feeling everyone talks about in the first trimester; however, routine blood work from my doctor revealed I was moderately anemic. Eek! I began taking iron supplements and watching what I eat more closely and I feel so much better!

Sibling Interest: What baby sister?! John Michael will talk about baby sister in moms tummy if we prompt him to, but other than that it’s not on his radar at all. Although I did ask him if he was going to share his toys with baby sister which prompted an immediate “no” response.

Exercise: I started going to spin class regularly about a month or so before I found out I was pregnant. I’ve been keeping up with the classes and go about 3x a week. I love spin!! I will also sometimes hop on the elliptical or treadmill for about 15-20 mins after class to get some more alone time in or listen to a podcast hah! John Michael enjoys the childcare offered at our gym so it’s easy to fit into our schedule and not feel guilty about it.

Cravings: None really. I have been eating my fair share of Cadbury creme eggs but I can hardly chalk this up to a pregnancy craving. Around Easter I always sneak a few in my cart to keep stashed in the freezer! They are so good frozen!

Nursery Update: What nursery?! We are currently living with my in-laws while trying to sell our house back in Louisiana. Once If that ever happens then we’ll be able to start house hunting here. I have a feeling any nursery decor/theme will be very thrown together at the last minute.

General Thoughts: Pretty sure I’ll make a more concerted effort to actually be prepared this time around. True to my nature, when my water broke with John Michael my husband had HIS hospital bag packed and I had packed…nothing. Not a damn thing. In fact, I waited quite a while after my water broke to even start packing (mistake).  So by week 36 I’ll make sure I have my bag ready to go in the event this baby follows suit of an early delivery!
